An exciting opportunity has arisen for Band 5 Staff Nurses to join the surgical nursing teams at IRH.
H South is a 30 bedded ward caring for elective and unscheduled surgical patients. H South is comprised of 22 inpatient beds and an 8 bedded low risk elective surgery pathway area. There is also a Surgical Assessment Unit that runs alongside the ward which staff have the opportunity to work in supporting the Surgical Nurse Practitioners. You will work within the nursing and multi-professional team to ensure a high standard of care to this defined group of patients. You will competently perform the necessary technical/invasive/physical aspects of care for this defined patient group.
You will be responsible for the assessment of patient needs, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care which are evidence based in support of the SCN. Utilizing all available resources taking into consideration the lifestyle, gender and cultural background and ensure involvement with the patient, family, carers and significant others. The postholder will ensure a person centred approach to care delivery maintaining safe and effective quality at all times within the ward. It is essential that you are currently a Registered Nurse with the NMC and that you have an interest in surgical nursing. Relevant post registration experience would be advantageous but not necessary. If you are an individual with a desire for surgical nursing or wishing to progress within this area and have the ability to fulfill the criteria outlined in the job description then this may be the challenge you are looking for.
The shift pattern for this post is currently 11.5hrs rotational mon-sun
