Trainee Advanced Nurse Practitioner

37.5 hours per week, Permanent

We are currently recruiting a number of trainee Advanced Nurse Practitioners who can evidence the following core values and aptitudes: Care and compassion; Quality; innovation and teamwork; Dignity and Respect; Openness, honesty and responsibility. The ANP team provides high quality, safe and effective clinical and emergency care in association with medical colleagues across acute adult services within Raigmore Hospital, Inverness.  Specialities include acute medicine and surgery, orthopaedics, ambulatory care and hospital at night.  

The successful candidates will be required to undertake a specified training programme to achieve a Post Graduate Diploma through University of the Highlands & Islands which includes Advanced Clinical Examination and Non-Medical Prescribing qualifications. In addition you will be required to complete the NHS Highland Advanced Practice Competency Framework/Portfolio and achieve final sign off in line with advanced practice national recommendations.  

You will be supported by an Advanced Nurse Practitioner Lead and Practice Development Nurse with training expected to be completed within 18 months of taking up post. The training posts are rotational across day, evening, weekend and nights. Posts will only be offered on a full time basis inclusive of dedicated protected learning time of approximately 20%. 

You will join a team of approximately 30 acute care ANP’s and assistant practitioners and be given the opportunity to become a true generalist with core skills in acute care. You will work within multidisciplinary teams across many clinical settings including medicine, surgery, orthopaedics, ambulatory emergency care, oncology, haematology, head and neck and Hospital at Night. You will be a core member of the cardiac arrest team and first point of contact for our onsite Medical Emergency Team.   

These are training post under AfC Annex 21. 

Interviews will be held on Wednesday 3rd and 4th August 2022. Successful candidates must be in a position to start in post on Monday 5th September 2022.
