We strongly welcome applications for 2 LAT (Locum Appointment for Training) ACCS posts approved for training at CT1 level available from 3 August 2022 for 12 months.
Post 1 consists of 6 months Emergency Medicine then 6 months Internal Medicine in Aberdeen royal Infirmary (12 months total).
Post 2 consists of 6 months Intensive Care Medicine Anaesthetics then 6 months Anaesthetics in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (12 months in total).
The second post we offer is initially six months Intensive Care Medicine, followed by six months of Anaesthetics. Both departments are large clinical and training units in Aberdeen, a tertiary referral centre offering state of the art clinical facilities. The programmes are well developed and designed for an entry grade junior doctor who is interested in applying to ACCS with training accredited. You should aim towards holding a training portfolio including meeting the ACCS competencies and acquisition of an Initial Assessment of Competence in Anaesthetics.
The Emergency Department in Aberdeen covers both ARI and the RACH. The centre is a Major Trauma Centre and tertiary ED for the North of Scotland. The Consultant body comprises of 23 Consultants and has varied interests including Paediatric sub-speciality training, Pre-hospital Medicine, Sports Medicine, Hyperbaric Medicine, Toxicology, Research and Major Incident Management.
The Internal Medicine block consists of experience in Acute Medicine delivered in Aberdeen, provided by the team of fourteen Consultants through three main areas: the Acute Medicine Initial Assessment Area, a large Short Stay Medical Unit and an Ambulatory Emergency Care area.
Acute Care Common Stem training is a collaboration of acute care specialities with the aim of producing multi-competent junior doctors able to recognise and manage the sick patient and who have the complementary speciality training required for higher speciality training in Emergency Medicine, JRCPTB speciality, Anaesthesia, and Intensive Care Medicine.
