The post holder has responsibility for completing mental health assessments, bio-psychosocial assessments, and risk assessments of patients aged 18 and over (including older adults aged 65 and over) who present to the Emergency Department, Medical wards and Surgical wards at St John’s Hospital in Livingston and other areas of the acute hospital where patients may be receiving treatment.

They will deliver high quality care in accordance with the values, skills and knowledge of the capability framework.

Carry a small outpatient caseload.

Be involved in care planning for patients who attend ED on a frequent basis.

Provide psychological intervention and follow-up to specified patient groups

The post holders time will be divided between carrying out assessments of patients who present in crisis, delivering psychological therapy to patients with long term medical conditions and involved in the planning of care around persons with complex mental health presentations who are inpatients in the acute hospital area.

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
