Job Advert

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

We are advertising for a 0.6wte Principal Psychologist to join the Adult Mental Health Liaison Service (AMHLS), a board-wide service for Glasgow and Clyde’s acute hospitals. It is a multidisciplinary service comprising of Psychiatrists, Mental Health Liaison Nurses and Clinical Psychologists. The postholder will work between the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and Royal Alexandria Hospital. The service provides psychiatric/psychological assessment, consultation, and advice on management, arranges support and follow-up for patients presenting with mental health difficulties due to crisis, suicidal ideation and self-harm. The service also works with patients experiencing psychological distress during an admission to hospital due
to a health condition, providing specialist assessment, brief psychological interventions, and consultation to the medical and surgical teams. We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic about multidisciplinary working and enjoys the challenge of working in a fast-paced environment where no day is the same. There are opportunities to contribute to service development, reflective practice, teaching/training and regular CPD in our fortnightly teaching programme. This post would be an exciting opportunity for either a suitably experienced Band 7 with highly developed skills for assessing risk or an experienced Principal Psychologist looking for a new challenge. Although recently qualified Psychologists and trainees expecting to qualify soon are not eligible for this 8A post, they are encouraged to apply. In the event of there being no suitable candidates for the post, such applications will be considered, whereby an appointment would be made initially at Band 7, with progression to Band 8A on successful achievement of the required competencies within an agreed timescale.
We look forward to receiving enquiries about this post from HCPC registered Clinical or Counselling Psychologists. This post requires PVG Scheme
Membership/Disclosure Scotland Check.
The hours for this part-time post are flexible, worked Monday-Friday. For full essential criteria, please refer to the job
description.
