Full Time / Permanent

Salary Scale Band 5 (Full trained) £26,104 - £32,915 per annum

Starting salary (Trainee Annexe 21) £23.040 per annum year 1

A trainee post with annexe 21 applied is paid a percentage of the fully qualified rate during the period of training as follows:-

Year 1: 70% of the pay band maximum   Year 2: 75% of the pay band maximum

An opportunity has arisen in the Operating Department to apply to study for the qualification of Operating Department Practitioner (ODP), previous HCSW experience is desirable but not essential. Consideration will be given to external candidates with transferable skills. You must have an interest in theatre practice, have good interpersonal skills, be motivated and proactive in your learning and be able to work as part of a team.

The Diploma of Higher Education in Operating Department Practice will run as a 2 year distance learning course through the University of West of Scotland.  60% of the student’s time will be based in clinical practice and the majority (but not all) clinical placements will be within the main operating department in Raigmore.  You may have placements for clinical practice outwith NHSH. There will be a  40% academic focus which equates to approximately 2 days per week. 

Successful applicants will be appointed on a Band 5 ANNEXE 21.

 ​​​​​​​The minimum academic requirements for entry to the program are:  

Passes in 5 Scottish National Qualifications (or equivalent) including 2 at Higher level or SVQ at SCQF level 7/8, or equivalent academic achievement.
