NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is the largest NHS Board in Scotland. We provide strategic leadership and performance management for the entire local NHS system in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde area ensuring that services are delivered effectively and efficiently.

This role, hosted by NHSGGC, offers a unique and rewarding career opportunity within one of the biggest Digital & eHealth teams in NHS Scotland.  The eHealth Directorate employs 1,600 staff who deliver large-scale operational IT/eHealth services, Information Management, Health Records services, Innovation programmes, Information Governance and Digital Transformation programmes.

It is an exciting development prospect for an experienced Strategic Programme Manager to join the Board’s eHealth Strategy & Programmes Team.  As part of the Directorate’s senior management team you will work closely with eHealth Teams, clinicians and service leads across NHS Scotland to deliver a major Laboratory digital programme to support service transformation.

The LIMS Programme and Role

NHS Scotland is working towards a common digital systems approach, with this role leading the migration from the current systems to implementation of the new digital system for laboratories.   This involves delivering the standardisation of various aspects of the Laboratories Information Management System (LIMS) functionality for all of the participating Boards across all laboratory disciplines.

This is a high-profile post leading a major digital implementation programme across a consortium of Boards in NHS Scotland.  The role will lead the planning and implementation of adopting of a new digital LIMS, supporting over 80 clinical laboratory sites delivering approximately 84 million patient laboratory tests per year. The laboratory digital systems support all clinical laboratory workflows, from electronic receipt of test requests, processing of samples, integration with robotic and automated test processes and systems, quality management, and results reporting to hospital, community and GP services.

The role will be responsible for leading the end to end management and delivery of this complex Programme of work including supplier engagement and management of the programme budget.  This will require significant previous experience of Programme management roles within the NHS or similarly large/complex organisation(s).
