This is a full-time permanent post.

The post holder will:

  • provide secretarial and administrative support to Consultant Surgeons.
  • act as a focal point for the provision of help and advice to staff members, patients and professionals in relation to service enquiries and to co-ordinate the patient’s pathway.


The post of medical secretary requires the following to provide an efficient and effective service:
Essential
1. NHS Waiting list experience.
2. Advanced keyboard skills and knowledge of audio typing systems
3. Good knowledge of medical terminology
4. Proven proficiency in English.
5. To have the ability to work independently and use your own initiative
6. To have the ability to organise and prioritise workload
7. Too have the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of professionals

Desirable
1. Awareness of Trust Policies and Procedures
2. Knowledge of a range of patient administration systems
