POST:  10 PA CONSULTANT DERMATOLOGY POST​​​​

Base: GLASGOW ROYAL INFIRMARY AND STOBHILL AMBULATORY CARE HOSPITAL

Glasgow Royal Infirmary, ranked the best hospital in Scotland and one of the top 100 hospitals in the world in 2021 as part of a global survey published by Newsweek, is looking for a dynamic dermatologist with an interest in surgery to help develop our skin cancer service. The successful candidate would join a team of 6 senior clinicians supported by 2 dermatology trainees and sepcialty doctors providing dermatology services for the North East of Glasgow.  We have close links with our colleagues in plastic surgery and also work with the Moh's surgery team based in the West of the city.  In time there would be the opportunity to develop a Mohs session within this post.

The post offers 10 PAs and will cover North Glasgow with clinical work at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary (GRI) and Stobhill Ambulatory Care Hospital (SACH). The post would also have the requirement to work elsewhere as required by the Clinical Service Lead.

Adult dermatology services in Greater Glasgow and Clyde are provided by the clinical directorate of dermatology, the Alan Lyell Centre for Dermatology.   This is the regional adult dermatology centre for approximately 1.5 million people in the West of Scotland. Dermatology services are provided by a multidisciplinary team of practitioners including Consultants, Specialty doctors, GP clinical assistants and specialist dermatology nurses. The successful candidate will join the team of GGC dermatologists, whose special interests across GGC include cutaneous surgery (including Mohs surgery), skin cancer, photodermatology, contact dermatitis, severe psoriasis, teaching, genodermatoses, paediatric dermatology, connective tissue disorders, vulval dermatoses, lymphoma and hair disorders.

Local adult dermatology services are delivered at eight hospital sites – Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Inverclyde Royal Hospital, Royal Alexandra Hospital, Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Stobhill Hospital, Vale of Leven Hospital, New Victoria Hospital and West Glasgow ACH. Each of these sites provides a range of dermatology out-patient services.

Applicants should have full GMC registration, a licence to practice, MRCP or equivalent and eligibility for inclusion on the Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR) or be within 6 months of confirmed.

The job is offered as a full-time post on a 10 PA basis but applications will be considered from those wishing to work less than full-time. Up to 2 EPA’s may be available to undertake additional outpatient and/or procedure sessions or management activity.

Additional Non DCC (up to 2 PA’s in total – Inclusive of 1 core SPA plus 1 additional non DCC can be negotiated and agreed between the successful candidate and Management depending on the time required to support professional activities and the needs of the service.

All newly qualified Consultants are initially offered a minimum of 1 Core Supporting Professional Activity (SPA) which includes CPD, audit, clinical governance, appraisal, revalidation, job planning and management meetings. This will be reviewed within 6 months (or earlier if required) of appointment and revised upwards if additional responsibilities are agreed.​​​​​​​
