A number of opportunities have arisen for Porter/Drivers to join our busy Portering Team on a permanent basis at the Kirkcaldy Victoria & Whytemans Brae Hospital sites. Hours available are 37.5 hours, 22.5 hours and Bank – more details are outlined below. 


POST 1: 
You will be required to work predominately Monday to Friday 2pm to 10pm, however working hours can also be determined by the service delivery of the department needs.

POST 2:
You will be required to work predominately on a 3 week rota, 5/7 days on the Phase 1&2 rota which includes dayshifts (6am – 2pm) and backshifts (2pm – 10pm) and also includes working 2 weekends out of 3.

POST 3:
You will be required to work as 37.5 hour relief Porters, therefore flexibility must be required as shifts will include dayshifts, backshifts, nightshifts and weekends.

POST 4:
You will be required to work as 22.5 hour relief Porters, therefore flexibility must be required as shifts will include dayshifts, backshifts, nightshifts and weekends.

The Portering service operates 24 hours, 7 days per week. All positions working hours can be altered and determined by the service delivery of the department requirements. 

Porter / Drivers duties vary from patient movement throughout the hospital, collection and delivery of specimens, delivery of stores, meal trolley, linen lockers, parcels and pharmacy to wards and departments. Waste uplift and exchanging of bins, including clinical hospital waste. Porters can walk a high number of miles on a daily basis. Manual handling element and assisting with maintaining a safe clean working environment for the delivery of the services at all times. Understanding and follow health & safety procedures.

You must have good communication skills, and have a caring & compassionate attitude given the nature of the role interacting with patients, wards, department, members of the public, colleagues and other NHS staff members. 

A clean full UK driving licence is required to enable you to drive NHS Fife vehicles, and also electric tugs to transport items internally within the Hospital.

Full training, and one to one coaching supplied, including attendance at all mandatory training courses.

Please note the salary scale for this post is pro rata for part time hours.

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Prior to appointment.
