The Associate Director of Nursing has strategic and operational leadership responsibility for ensuring the delivery of person-centered, safe, and effective nursing services and clinical practice within the H&SCP,  including providing direction and guidance on professional issues by delivering effective clinical and care governance,  implementing policy, and supporting the effective and highly skilled nursing workforce to meet the needs of the Lanarkshire population, in accordance with the 20:20 Vision and Quality Strategy. Undertake a lead role in the delivery of significant Board wide and pan H&SCP multi-professional issues such as the implementation of the Children (Scotland) Act 2014 and Mental Health Services, where hosting arrangements are established, ensuring the delivery of person-centered, safe, effective and efficient pan Lanarkshire Services. Deputise for the Nurse Director, H&SCP, and as such is required to attend Executive level meetings such as the Corporate Management Team and Public Protection - Chief Officer meetings in the absence of the Nurse Director, H&SCP.In addition, the post holder will have a strategic portfolio that involves leading on specific professional/managerial and operational issues for nursing across NHS Lanarkshire. Representing Lanarkshire at a national level on specific areas of practice. E.g. health visiting, pediatrics, mental health, district nursing.Responsible for providing professional and clinical leadership for all nursing staff within the H&SCP, as well as on a pan Lanarkshire basis where services are hosted within the Partnership. There are a total number of 6,450 nursing and Allied Health Professional staff within NHS Lanarkshire with the post holders being professionally responsible for approximately 2062 nursing staff (1422 in the North and 640 in the South).

Areas of responsibility will include a selection of services in their portfolio from below depending on the area of deployment:  Mental Health - Inpatient and Community Services- School Immunisation Team- Hospital at Home- Learning Disabilities-Addictions-CAMHS-Community Hospital-Healthcare In Police Custody-Prisoner Healthcare-District Nursing-Health Visiting-FNP-SchoolNursing-Treatment Rooms-Pediatrics and Community Children’s Services-Care Home assurance and support sexual Health Services-Osteoporosis service-Continence services, and overnight nursing

The successful candidate will be educated to/working towards or operating at a Master's Level, a Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration. Experience working in Significant senior management in the NHS or another complex multidisciplinary public or private sector organisation.A significant and demonstrable track record of success in the management of service improvement, in the delivery and monitoring of high-quality standards of care, in the planning and delivery of successful organisational change, and in proactive partnership working internal and external to the NHS.A high level of performance in the leadership behaviors identified as crucial within NHS Scotland such as working in partnership,  learning, and developing,  caring for staff, improving performance through team working,  communicating effectively, improving quality, and achieving results.Detailed understanding of clinical best practices and policies.Experience in working and successfully contributing to a senior team. Experienced in staff management/development and multi-disciplinary working at peer level. Proven people and financial management capabilities. Occasional unsociable hours with flexibility around daytime/evening working will be required, therefore a car driver with a valid UK driving licence will be essential for this position.
