We have an exciting opportunity for a Child Protection Nurse Advisor (CPNA) to work within the NHS Forth Valley child protection team.

The key roles will include working in collaboration with the Child Protection Department Manager, Child Protection Nurse Advisors and Administrative staff, to develop and maintain a high quality child protection service.  The CPNA will provide advice and support to health staff, monitoring practice and policy guidance across NHS Forth Valley.  Working in partnership to establish, develop and maintain effective working relationships across the multi agency Child Protection forums in the Forth Valley area is essential. You will also be expected to deputise for the Child Protection Department Manager, in local and national forums as required.​​​​​​​

Qualification requirements  

The job requires

  • A first level registration nurse
  • Substantial experience of working in the community
  • A specific qualification in child protection or currently working towards one.
  • A qualification at degree level or equivalent and ability to study at post-graduate level.

Additional knowledge and skills

  • Ability to critically appraise research and analyse complex information.
  • Have a working knowledge of audit and self-evaluation.
  • High level of Computer skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance.
  • Excellent presentation, training facilitation and meeting management skills
  • A knowledge of or qualification in supervision skills in child protection
