The Communications function within the State Hospital provides a highly specialised service critical to ensuring that the Hospital can explain its work, demonstrate its impact, and engage with a wide variety of audiences.

To enhance our small in-house team, we are looking for a Digital Communications Officer - a proven Communications professional who is a creative and talented individual with core communication skills and exceptional digital skills.

You will be lead specialist for digital communications, honing and shaping activity to ensure the best use of digital technologies in the design and delivery of services.  This includes the provision of engaging and visually appealing content (including podcasts, videos and blogs) across a range of web and digital platforms, and keeping pace with new digital tools, trends and technology.

You will be hands on from the get go with responsibility for developing, managing and evaluating the Hospital’s existing range of digital channels and platforms including the staff intranet, external website, ONELAN screens, social media channels, and other marketing platforms.

Experience

You must have technical experience in developing and designing responsive websites, and using related technologies including HTML and CSS.  Some understanding of PHP is desirable.  Essential to the role is proficiency in the development of Content Management Systems (CMS) including WordPress, and proficient in use of Microsoft 365 applications including SharePoint.  Additionally, extensive experience of using video editing, animation and graphic design software packages.

In summary:

  • Extensive technical experience of developing and designing responsive websites, and using related technologies including HTML, CSS and some understanding of PHP.
  • Proficiency in the development of Content Management Systems (CMS) including WordPress.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and SharePoint.
  • Proficient with cloud storage and file transfer systems.
  • Live experience of effectively engaging with stakeholders on social media and developing appealing content.
  • Extensive experience of using video editing, animation and graphic design software packages to create eye catching audio visual content including videos and blogs.
  • Sound experience in undertaking research, evaluation and measurement techniques e.g. intranet / web analytics and social media user experience insight.
  • Proficiency in copy writing, responding to media enquiries, writing media releases, developing / delivering media and social media campaigns, and crisis communications.
  • Expertise in developing and delivering communications campaigns, and producing marketing and communications materials including bulletins, newsletters and publications.
