The Communications function within the State Hospital provides a highly specialised service critical to ensuring that the Hospital can explain its work, demonstrate its impact, and engage with a wide variety of audiences.
To enhance our small in-house team, we are looking for a PR & Media Communications Officer. Particular emphasis is placed on public relations, media relations, social media engagement, and the development of audio visual materials.

Experience
A key aspect of the role is to build the Hospital’s online visibility. You will need to be a proven Communications professional that can easily and quickly, develop and deliver high quality communications with hands-on expertise in using online, digital, and social media tools for engaging and influencing key audiences.
You will possess expert communications skills to enhance public relations and media management. A sound knowledge and understanding of news media and politics, particularly in Scotland, is required as is expertise in developing audio visual materials such as podcasts, videos and blogs.
In summary:
- Extensive experience of effectively engaging with stakeholders on social media and developing appealing content.
- Extensive experience of using video editing, animation and graphic design software packages to create eye catching audio visual content including videos and blogs.
- Proficiency in the use of graphic design packages, in particular, InDesign.
- Proficient in use of Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and SharePoint.
- Sound experience in undertaking research, evaluation and measurement techniques.
- Proficiency in copy writing, responding to media enquiries, writing media releases, developing / delivering media and social media campaigns, and crisis communications.
- Expertise in developing and delivering communications campaigns, and producing marketing and communications materials including bulletins, newsletters and publications.
