Applications are invited for a substantive post as Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry. This is a Full time (10 PA) post based at Glasgow Dental Hospital and School with a substantial remit at the Royal Hospital for Children. We are the largest provider of specialist oral healthcare in
. The post holder will join one of the busiest Departments of Paediatric Dentistry in the UK. Aside from clinical service provision, opportunities exist for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, Quality Improvement activity, and participation in research. The Department has close links with other acute medical and surgical specialities in the Royal Hospital for Children and the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital OMFS Teams and with the Greater Glasgow and Clyde Public Dental Service.
The appointee will be responsible, together with colleagues, for the provision of specialist assessment, diagnosis, and treatment in Paediatric Dentistry. This service provides advice and treatment plans for referring practitioners and public dental service staff. Treatment provision will be for medically compromised children and children with complex dental conditions. The appointee will provide the equivalent of at least 1 session of undergraduate clinic teaching.
The post holder would be expected to develop further the existing services within the discipline of Paediatric Dentistry and play an active role in the teaching and training of postgraduate dentists to specialist and consultant level.
The appointee will be expected to have a high level of knowledge and expertise in the field of Paediatric Dentistry.
Applicants must have full GDC registration, have successfully completed a 2-year Fixed Term Training Appointment (FTTA) in Paediatric Dentistry (post CCST training) or withing 6 months of completion at the date of the interview. Applicants must be on or eligible for inclusion on the GDC Specialist List for Paediatric Dentistry. Applicants must have experience of Paediatric Dental service provision in an NHS hospital or for applicants from overseas, have the ability to demonstrate a full understanding of the provision of a Paediatric Dental service within a UK context.
