CONSULTANT PHYSICIAN WITH INTEREST IN CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY
GLASGOW ROYAL INFIRMARY
Salary: £91,474 (GBP) to £121,548 (GBP)
Hours of work: 40 (10 PAs)

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Consultant Physician with an interest in clinical pharmacology at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. You will join 9 colleagues in the Department of Diabetes, Endocrinology and Clinical Pharmacology which offers a full range of specialty and sub-specialty activity. The post offers 10PA.
You will undertake outpatient activity primarily involving the management of Type 2 diabetes and specifically cardiovascular disease prevention. You will contribute to the development of a multi-disciplinary team approach fostering links with primary care colleagues to ensure safe and appropriate prescribing in diabetes. As a department this will be a second post with an interest in clinical pharmacology and it is envisaged that the successful applicant will develop a wider role in NHSGGC taking a lead for prescribing e.g. through involvement with the Area Drug and Therapeutics Committee and sub committees. There will be a commitment to in patient general medicine and unscheduled care on an on call basis.
You will demonstrate ability to initiate and lead in service development, and contribute to training and teaching at various levels, including the option for undergraduate teaching via the University of Glasgow Medical School.

Glasgow Royal Infirmary is situated near the centre of the city, which has good transport links to Edinburgh and beyond to the beautiful Scottish countryside. Glasgow offers good schools and accommodation with a vibrant culture.
The job is offered as a full-time post on a 10 PA basis but applications will be considered from those wishing to work less than full-time. Up to 2 EPA’s may be available to undertake additional outpatient and/or procedure sessions or management activity.
Additional Non DCC (up to 2 PA’s in total – Inclusive of 1 core SPA plus 1 additional non DCC can be negotiated and agreed between the successful candidate and Management depending on the time required to support professional activities and the needs of the service.
All newly qualified Consultants are initially offered a minimum of 1 Core Supporting Professional Activity (SPA) which includes CPD, audit, clinical governance, appraisal, revalidation, job planning and management meetings. This will be reviewed within 6 months (or earlier if required) of appointment and revised upwards if additional responsibilities are agreed.
