This exciting new post primarily involves working on a project that will examine the long-term effects of musical neurostimulation on seizure frequency and cognitive functioning in children with drug-resistant epilepsy. Although based within the Department of Paediatric Psychology, in order to achieve key aims of the study the successful candidate will likely spend a significant proportion of their time within community settings; mainly for the purpose of administering particular assessments of cognitive functioning to those children and young people that enrol into the study. Depending upon the the demands of the project, there may be opportunities for the successful candidate to participate in direct clinical work with patients.
The successful candidate will become part of a small, friendly, and supportive research team that comprises of a consultant paediatric neuropsychologist and a consultant paediatric neurologist (both based within NHS Grampian) and a professor of medical statistics based at the University of Aberdeen. The post holder should also have the opportunity to work with a welcoming and encouraging team of applied clinical/ health psychologists based within the Department of Paediatric Psychology at Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital.
