The Pharmacy North Sector consists of the following sites: Glasgow Royal Infirmary; Stobhill ACH; Gartnavel General Hospital; West of Scotland Cancer Centre and Vale of Leven Hospital; Princess Royal Maternity. The largest site is Glasgow Royal which is a well-established teaching hospital and was recently named as one of the best hospitals in Scotland in 2019 which we are very proud of. We have a range of specialist services over the sector including Cardiology; Burns & Plastic Surgery; Gynecology; Cancer Services; HIV/HEP service; Maternity unit; Eye out-patient.
We are looking for a suitably qualified, highly motivated individual to join our friendly and supportive pharmacy team in the delivery of clinical pharmacy services within each specialty ensuring the safe and effective supply of medicines to patients. You will have a key role in providing an effective Discharge service at ward level. You will be an integral member of the pharmacy team working in the main department and at ward level liaising closely with the wider multidisciplinary team.
The post holder will contribute to the ongoing redesign of pharmacy services and provide dispensing of in/out patient discharge prescriptions from ward level and dispensary. Providing ward top up services when required and working as part of the multidisciplinary team both at ward level and in the dispensary.
The post may include rotations to Gartnavel General Hospital, West of Scotland Cancer Centre, Stobhill Hospital and Vale of Leven site providing great opportunities to work within various specialties.
The shift pattern will be on a rotation of 08.50- 17.00, 09.50 – 18.00 whilst on GRI campus to help support our extended hours opening; Other sites are 09.00 – 17.00
You will also be required to participate in weekend rotas and Public Holidays.
Applicants must have completed a qualification recognised by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and be registered or eligible to register as a pharmacy technician with the GPhC. Possession of an accuracy checking qualification is also desirable. You must be a team player and dedicated to providing high quality pharmaceutical care to patients. You must also have excellent communication skills and be able to organise and prioritise workload.
