NHS Lanarkshire

Consultant Anaesthetist

University Hospital Hairmyres is looking to recruit a consultant primarily with a general theatre interest, although an ITU interest will also be considered. The appointee will take part in a dedicated theatre on call rota based on a 1 in 11 frequency.

The new appointee will join a department of 20 consultants. During the Covid pandemic almost all theatres changed to 2.5 session days and this remains in place for the foreseeable future. Sessions will be made up from the following subspecialties: general surgery, robotic, vascular, ECT, orthopaedics, trauma, CEPOD, urology, ophthalmology, ENT, gynaecology, ITU and pre-assessment. Any specialist interest could be accommodated.

The exact configuration of sessions will be determined following appointment when a job plan will be issued as part of the contract.

All new substantive Consultants are initially offered a minimum of 1 PA for SPA duties but this starting allocation may be increased if the appointee can begin work immediately with specific service improvement initiatives.

Informal enquiries regarding this post will be welcomed by Dr. A. Mitchell, Clinical Director or Dr Jane Duffty, Deputy Clinical director on 01355 585724.
