Associate Postgraduate Dean -  Quality Lead

NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations.  

Do you want to make difference to Postgraduate Medical Education in Scotland? Are you interested in improving the quality of training experienced by our trainees?

A senior doctor currently working in the NHS in Scotland is needed to join the team leading on Quality Management – Quality Improvement (QM-QI) for the Scotland Deanery, supporting the Postgraduate Deans responsible for the Scotland Deanery’s Quality Workstream.

Working to a specialty-aligned QM-QI model {Further details of new model can be found at https://vimeo.com/123772298} The post plays a pivotal role in ensuring the standards of the statutory regulator, the General Medical Council (GMC), are met in regard to the education and training of doctors in Scotland.

Applicants must be qualified to MBChB or equivalent and included in the GMC’s General and Specialist Registers. A broad understanding of the GMC and Scotland Deanery quality frameworks together with practical experience of medical education and training in the NHS is required. The expectations of the role of Associate Postgraduate Dean for Quality require the appointee to have 2 sessions in this role. 

Sessions as Associate Postgraduate Dean Quality are currently for an initial three-year appointment with a possible further three-year extension and may be located in any part of Scotland.
