For trainees covered by Annex 21 where the period of training lasts for between one and four years, pay will be as follows:
- up to 12 months prior to completion of training: 75 per cent of the pay band maximum of the fully qualified rate;
- more than one but less than two years prior to completion of training: 70 per cent of the pay band maximum of the qualified rate of the qualified;
- more than two but less than three years prior to completion of training: 65 per cent of the pay band maximum for the qualified rate.
- more than three years from completion of training: 60 per cent of the pay band maximum of the fully qualified rate.

As part of the redesign of the critical care services in NHS Lothian, we have developed a group of Advanced Critical Care Nurse Practitioners to support the delivery of safe and effective critical care.
The service is currently delivered on the 2 acute adult sites in the University Hospitals Division – the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and the Western General Hospital. This role is integral to Pan Lothian critical care services who admit patients requiring general ICU and HDU care as well as supporting national and tertiary service provision.
We are looking for an experienced critical care nurse with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who have completed a Postgraduate Diploma/Masters level qualification in Advanced Nurse Practice.
Applicants will be expected to show evidence of clinical leadership, possession of a post graduate qualification, have evidence of excellent communication skills and be committed to supporting the change agenda.
The minimum requirement for the posts is to be a registered nurse with significant experience within the critical care setting and a Postgraduate masters level qualification in Advanced Critical Care Practice or equivalent.
Selection for the post will be carried out using a clinical assessment centre and competency based interview on Monday 22nd August 2022.
