Post 1 

This is an exciting opportunity for a Peer Support Worker to work within a locality Community Addiction Service. Their role will be to support people who find it difficult to engage with alcohol and drug treatment services and help them to take positive steps into recovery. The Peer Support Worker will be a positive visible role model of recovery capable of challenging stigma and barriers to care and treatment.


Post 2

This is an exciting opportunity for a Peer Support Worker to work within a small team to deliver a model of care that supports co-ordinated care planning for people who are adversely affected by alcohol and drug use but also have other complex needs (mental, physical or social). The Peer Support Worker will be a positive visible role model of recovery capable of challenging stigma and barriers to care and treatment.

The service operates in all 4 South Lanarkshire localities. Each team within the service is managed by a health or a social work colleague. 

The post holder will have a working/living knowledge and understanding of the consequences and impact of adverse substance use (physical, social, environmental).

The post is ideally suited to someone who has lived experience of negative impact caused by alcohol and/or drug use and has been in a period of sustained recovery for 3 plus years. 



The successful candidate will possess SVQ 3 in Health/Social Care or working towards, or equivalent experience working in a health or social care role/voluntary role/or have personal/lived experience of adversity caused by substance use.
