Clinical Procurement Specialist (Senior Nurse)

The post: 
This post brings an exciting albeit challenging opportunity for an experienced Senior Nurse to influence the procurement of safe and effective products which will help harness the buying power of more than £2.5 billion spent each year across the NHS in Scotland. National Procurement, the Procurement Centre of Expertise for Health, works in collaboration with Health Boards to ensure the highest level of patient care through the provision of a wide range of goods and services via a series of best value National Contracts and Distribution Services.

The candidate:
The post holder will be a key member providing support, advice and guidance to the wider procurement team in conducting Health Board reviews and in supporting and suggesting effective and efficient clinical implementation of products through the development and maintenance of a customer engagement approach with senior nursing staff within Health Boards, to advisory panel members and key stakeholders in current and future projects. 

The successful candidate will require to be knowledgeable and have a good understanding of a strategic procurement process as they will support procurement of a portfolio of commodities from a clinical perspective. They will provide clinical leadership in relation to shaping of national procurement strategies and evaluation methodologies, whilst supporting the management of a complex and specialised clinical network of stakeholders. Using procurement skills and patient/user specialised product knowledge, you will provide customers with excellent product choice and quality whilst contributing to the strategic sourcing programme delivery targets. 

The post holder should be qualified to First level Registered Nurse who is educated to or operating at Masters degree level. Have extensive leadership and management experience at a senior level with evidence of relevant continued professional development/qualifications. Evidence of ongoing professional development experience and/or a strong interest in risk management and the quality agenda is also highly relevant.

The post holder will be responsible for undertaking clinical reviews and mapping each Health Board and the development and implementation of an appropriate strategy of engagement for strategic sourcing to support the efficient implementation of opportunities ensuring through procurement we maximise the Health, Financial and Environmental Impact of products.
