Are you an experienced Pharmacy Technician seeking the challenge of a developing role in the care of older people and those with palliative and end of life care needs, delivering a high quality, effective and efficient patient-focused service? Join our dynamic, supportive and friendly pharmacy team at Roxburghe House and Royal Victoria Hospital.

Working with the clinical pharmacy, ward based and community based multidisciplinary teams you will have responsibility for providing person centred care and will carry out roles at ward and locality levels including confirming medication histories, contributing to discharge planning and ensuring adherence to clinical governance. You will also contribute towards identifying and resolving medication related issues, working in collaboration with the multidisciplinary teams.

You must be able to maintain, develop and use your own professional judgement and skills for the benefit of patients. You must be able to use your own initiative to provide person centred care and be flexible in your approach to changing service needs.

You will be a positive role model and have adaptable and motivational attributes. You will manage staff, procedures and processes and be responsible for training and assuring the competencies of pharmacy technicians and pharmacy support workers within your team.  You will also work closely with other Specialist Pharmacy Technicians and the wider pharmacy workforce, to review, develop and sustain services.

You must have empathy, excellent motivational and problem solving skills and possess the ability to work under pressure.​​​​​​​

*Applications are welcomed from experienced Pharmacy Technicians who meet the essential criteria (without an HNC Pharmacy Services Development & Management – or equivalent).  Successful applicants in this position would be employed as band 5 until they achieve the qualification to be given band 6.

​​​​​​​You must be a registrant of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and hold a recognised accuracy checking qualification.

**Hours of work are: 37.5 hours over a 7 day week.  We are supportive of flexible working and are willing to accept applications from those who can work any hours between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. or wish to work part time or job share.  This post holder will contribute to the weekend working rota.  Please contact a manager listed in advance of application to discuss potential working hours or for any queries about this.
