Applications are invited for a full-time Senior Biomedical Scientist post [including Histological Dissection]; in this new post we are looking for an individual to join our team, working in a busy department at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, which provides a full range of diagnostic pathology services to NHS Tayside.
Dundee is known as the ‘City of Discovery’ and also as the ‘Scotland Coolest City’ for its culture, which includes the spectacular new V&A design museum on Dundee’s Riverside.
Our Department is friendly and well resourced; we have a supportive modernizing leadership team with developments in digital pathology, BMS role extension, including histological specimen dissection, molecular pathology and tissue banking. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work in a busy diagnostic department, undertaking 30,000 surgical and autopsy pathology requests per annum, in addition 2000 diagnostic cytology cases.
Applicants must be HCPC registration, hold an MSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent e.g. IBMS Diploma of Expert Practice in Histological Dissection, and show evidence of continuing professional development. They must also show flexibility and be highly motivated to get the best out of this opportunity.
The successful candidate will also be expected to undertake extensive training and completion of competence based assessments.
The Department is approved by the Institute of Biomedical Science and NHS Education Scotland as a training laboratory. The department has UKAS Accreditation to ISO 15189 standard.
