This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced medical professional to expand their medical management and clinical leadership experience with National Services Scotland.

NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) is responsible for the supporting the delivery of health and care services for the people of Scotland and is seeking to appoint a registered Medical Practitioner (with a valid GMC License to Practice) to provide additional Medical advice and support within the Procurement, Commissioning and Facilities Strategic Business Unit (PCF SBU). 

The purpose of PCF SBU is: “To be the leading provider of meaningful clinical and commercial solutions for health and social care”. The PCF SBU delivers a wide range of procurement, contracting and commissioning services to NHS Scotland, with an objective of increasing this scope.  PCF SBU directly manages a staff of over 600 people, commissions Specialist and Screening services, Strategic Sourcing and procurement across the NHS, and for NHS Assure.

You will share leadership responsibility for the strategic planning, operational delivery, quality and effectiveness with the Medical Director PCF, and the current National Medical Advisor; taking a lead on specific projects or areas of work as necessary. Your role will be focused on the National Services Division of PCF including strategic support of procurement of national specialist services, national networks and strategic networks. You will have the opportunity of engaging directly with every NHS Board in Scotland and with Scottish Government, and will be responsible for introducing and managing new technologies and interventions as well as providing support to teams in a wide range of clinical disciplines.

You should have a proven track record of achievement in managing clinical service redesign and operational management in a complex healthcare organisation.  

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme Disclosure Scotland check.  Any candidate who has lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.

Candidates must have current GMC registration at the time of applying.
