Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) is a high priority for the NHS in Scotland. The IPC Team aims to ensure the provision of a safe environment, which minimizes the risk of infection to patients, staff and visitors. 

The successful candidate will become a senior member of the IPC Team and will work alongside the Corporate Nursing Team to lead on the prevention and control of infection within a designated geographical sector. They will provide professional and clinical expertise to the delivery of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) requirements as part of the corporate professional nursing care governance and assurance model. Work with a broad range of colleagues to ensure that continuous quality improvement is achieved across all services, and to support the Deputy Board Nurse Director for Corporate and Community services.

The post holder will have responsibility for contributing to policy development, implementation of standards for the prevention and control of infection, monitoring, surveillance and investigation, management and control of infections within NHSGGC.

Responsible for contributing to the development and delivery of a comprehensive Infection Prevention and Control education programme for all health and social care staff.

We are therefore looking for a registered general nurse with a Diploma in Infection Prevention and Control and experience of working across organisational and professional boundaries in a flexible, creative way, pertinent to HAI.

We are looking for an individual who has extensive experience of HAI, evidence of continuing professional and clinical development within the sphere of HAI, excellent presentation skills, highly effective interpersonal and communication skills, skilled leadership which would include negotiating and influencing skills, extremely competent in all aspects of Information Technology, teaching experience including within a higher academic institution, the ability to work autonomously and make independent clinical judgements and decisions prioritising concurrent and competing issues.
