The Practice Education Facilitators are currently based in Inverness but the role can involve travelling throughout North NHS Highland.
Additional funding has become available through Scottish Government COVID recovery funding to support the enhancement of your PEF and CHEF team in order to strengthen the retrieval of nursing and midwifery practice learning experiences caused by the disruption of COVID.
The main focus of the new roles includes:-
- Ensure support for all nursing and midwifery pre and post-registration student placements but especially those with smaller numbers of students i.e. midwifery, child, learning disabilities and mental health;
- Extend the breadth of practice learning experiences to contemporary health and care environments;
- Ensure the development of sustainable placements;
- Enable PEF/CHEF support for NSS, NHS 24 and HIS placements that are within the geographical boundaries of your board.
There is a small friendly and highly motivated team of Practice Education Facilitators and Care Home Education Facilitators throughout NHS Highland.
The Practice Education Facilitator is an autonomous practitioner with advanced communication skills. Practice Education Facilitators provide support to practice assessors and supervisors within a variety of practice learning environments including Midwifery, Child, Adult, Mental Health, Learning Disability and Care Homes.
The Practice Education Facilitator will provide education and development opportunities for practice assessors and supervisors supporting students from pre and post registration education programmes. The role influences the development and maintenance of a quality learning environment where both education and lifelong learning are seen as integral to clinical practice. As an experienced practitioner you will lead and facilitate practice education developments to support staff to make the necessary changes to their practice as required both locally and nationally. You will have an indirect influence on patient care by supervising, teaching, facilitating and supporting practice assessors and supervisors within NHS Highland.
This post requires membership of Disclosure Scotland's PVG Scheme.
A driving licence and access to a car for work purposes is essential for this post as you will be expected to travel through North NHS Highland area.
