We are seeking to appoint a Senior Charge Nurse, full time (37.5 hours), to join the existing exemplary Combined Short Stay Unit (CSSU) team at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI).
The CSSU is based within Ward 301/302 at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI); CSSU consists of 2 Wards catering for medical and surgical patient attending for day case procedures. The service runs Monday to Friday 24/7 with a half day opening on a Saturday. This dedicated CSSU provides comprehensive day service accommodation and care for the large geographical region of Grampian in the North East of Scotland but also the surrounding islands (Orkney and Shetland).
The role involves the Senior Charge Nurse leading and supporting an established team of nurses while working in conjunction with other healthcare professionals. The team are integral in the daily running of the CSSU service, providing nursing care to patients and support to clinical staff along with advice and education to both patients and staff. The SCN will be central in leading the team while supporting change and developments within the unit.
The Department is supported by a speciality clinicians and nurses, and service managers and the successful candidate will be expected to work within this busy well established department and integrate with the team. Therefore, good communication and networking skills are essential.
The Foresterhill campus is reputed to be the largest in Europe with the principal medical services for Grampian and the Medical School closely integrated. On site are internationally renowned facilities such as the Institute for Medical Sciences, the Health Economic Research Unit and the shortly to be opened Rowett Institute of Nutrition. There are currently two large building project taking place on the Foresterhill Site, the Baird Family Hospital and the National Treatment Centre, which will build on this reputation and provide patient centre care in new and modern settings.

Applicants must be a registered nurse and have acute nursing experience in both medical and surgical disciplines. They must be educated to first degree level or with equivalent experience but with an expectation that they would commence on the degree programme once in post and have a commitment to ongoing professional development. Desirable attributes include experience in line managing staff, teaching and audit experience.
