Registered Nurse: Hyper-Acute Stroke Unit
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Hyper-Acute Stroke unit for a highly motivated individual to join our dedicated team of Registered Nurses. We are a 26 bedded unit based at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. We provide emergency treatment including thrombolysis and thrombectomy to patients from across Scotland with the support of a highly trained multi-disciplinary team.
We are seeking dedicated and dynamic band 5 Nurses to be part of our expanding team. You will assist us in delivering safe and compassionate care to our patients using evidenced based practice.
We are seeking candidates who have a genuine interest in care of the acutely unwell patient and of neurology and stroke care. They should be able to demonstrate confident communication, effective organisational skills, have a flexible attitude and will be inspired to deliver a high standard of evidence-based person-centred care to all patients. You should demonstrate an ability to work on your own initiative but most importantly, you must be able to work efficiently as part of a team. You must also show the ability to communicate with the multi-disciplinary team to enhance patient care to its full potential.
With support from your Senior Charge Nurse and the wider nursing team, you will be able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based care without direct supervision. You will be responsible for a group of patients with acute and complex needs, with all aspects of their day-to-day care. This will contribute to the provision of seamless care for your patients from admission to transfer/discharge by utilising efficient communication with all members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team.
Training & Development Opportunities:
Successful candidates will benefit from various development opportunities. This will include - a comprehensive induction programme; support for your continued professional development and access to speciality-specific enhanced skills training.
Training includes National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Stroke Training and Awareness Resources (STARs) and Stroke and TIA Assessment training for thrombolysis treatment (STAT).
NHS GGC is continually working to evolve the treatments available to patients. We have an established Thrombolysis pathway and are currently implementing a Thrombectomy pathway. A further training programme for this is being rolled out - additional learning for Stroke treatment in Thrombectomy (STAT+). This is an exciting time to join the Stroke team as we continue to improve Glasgow’s stoke services.
Applicants must have a valid NMC registration (or in the process of awaiting NMC PIN).
The shift pattern is: rotational 12.5hrs. Also open to discussion on part time hours.
Please note: we anticipate a high level of interest in this position and may close the advert once a sufficient amount of applications are received. Therefore, please make sure you complete and submit your application at an early stage.
