Applications are invited for a specialist radiation therapy physics technician post within the Radiotherapy Physics section. The Section provides clinical, scientific and technical support to the Radiotherapy service at Ninewells Hospital & Medical School, Dundee, which serves the population of Tayside and North East Fife, delivering around 1400 new courses of treatment each year.  External beam therapy is provided by three Varian linear accelerators, with on board imaging systems (OBI) delivering state-of-art treatment techniques like Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT), Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy (SABR) and Image guided radiotherapy (IGRT). These are supported by RayStation Treatment Planning System, ARIA record and verify system and Pukka-j archiving facility. The department provides a high dose rate Brachytherapy service using Varian Bravos treatment unit.

This Band 6 post is to provide quality assurance and dosimetry support to the radiotherapy service. However, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in all the routine activities of the section as demanded by the clinical service. The post holder will also be expected to contribute to any new installation and development work being embarked on in the cancer centre. Flexibility in hours of work will be expected.  

The successful candidate will be expected to undertake training in support of application to the voluntary register for Clinical Technologists.

Your performance must comply with the national “Mandatory Induction Standards for Healthcare Support Workers 2009” and with the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers.
