GP Appraiser in NHS Highland (Argyll & Bute HSCP)

£9,798 per annum per weekly sessional commitment

£4,899 per annum per weekly half sessional commitment

We invite you to apply for the role of GP Appraiser in NHS Highland to provide one to one half weekly 4 hour session.

 

The GP appraisal scheme in Scotland offers GPs formative, systematic and regular review with a peer.  It can also support GPs prepare for revalidation, allowing a positive demonstration of fitness to practise.

 

Join an enthusiastic group of appraisers throughout Scotland who meet annually for development and have regular local and national meetings.  The scheme has been well received by Scottish GPs.

 

To apply, you must be a GP and have the GP experience to give you credibility with colleagues (see Person Specification in section 3 of the Job Description).  We welcome applications from GP principals, sessional GPs and those in the twilight of their career, as the role can continue for up to three years after stopping clinical practice.

By far the most important skills you will possess will be a positive attitude to the principles of peer appraisal and the credibility and interpersonal skills to engage your colleagues in this process, which remains light touch and focused on the wellbeing of colleagues.

 

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to undertake an interview and, if successful, can submit their application (same form sent to Medical.Appraisal@nes.scot.nhs.uk as per instructions on SOAR – link below) to undergo appraiser training/assessment as outlined on SOAR.

 

Following satisfactory mutual evaluation of your performance at the training courses, you will be recommended for employment as an appraiser within Argyll and Bute HSCP, NHS Highland.
