This is a part-time post for 18.75hrs offered on a fixed contract for 2 years.
This is an exciting new opportunity for the post holder to establish and develop an art therapy provision and contribute to the package of care offered to children and young people in Renfrewshire CAMHS.
Renfrewshire Children and Adolescents Mental Health Service (CAMHS) provides a service that supports the mental health needs of children and young people (CYP) in partnership with their families and carer’s. The care pathway ensures close community contact, working in partnership and collaboration with statutory services, third sector and voluntary organisations.
The post holder will be welcomed to join an established, dynamic and diverse team delivering effective evidence based care. The post holder will contribute to delivering excellence, timely and innovative care to service users.
Arts therapy (art) will be a new approach to children and young people in this team, as such this post holder will establish, develop and evaluate the arts therapy provision.
The vision of NHSGGC Arts Therapies is to provide high quality person-centred, trauma informed and evidence based, cost effective interventions to those who may struggle to make use of or access more verbally focused therapeutic care.
Art Therapy will be open to all children and young people who require Art Therapy assessment, rehabilitation and treatment interventions. The post holder will also case co-ordinate and be actively involved in other core team duties as required.
The post holder will have the leadership role and deliver supervision of band 6 arts therapists and equivalent (as required) contributing to the development of junior staff.
The fixed term 0.5WTE post is based in Renfrewshire CAMHS
Treatment involves both individual and group work.
The post holder works as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
The successful candidate will be required to run 1:1 and group interventions for children and young people with a wide variety of conditions including; eating disorders, neuro developmental differences, also those who may present a risk to self or other.
Focus areas will include:
Shaping the art therapy service delivery.
Encouraging participation and building trusting and empathic relationships.
Offering alternative, safe ways of communicating and processing strong and confusing feelings.
Supporting resilience through independent use of creative activities where appropriate.
Encouraging peer support through shared experience.
Provide an experience of working with a focus on emotions.
Ongoing service evaluation seeking feedback from children and young people, carers and staff and adjusting delivery to meet identified needs, applying principles of quality improvement.
Contributing to the collaborative and multi-disciplinary teams (MDT) understanding of CYP particularly strengths and needs to support effective care planning, recovery and resilience.
To support discharge and relapse prevention, the post holder would be required to link with third sector providers such as community-based arts and creative groups.
A positive attitude and flexible approach are essential.
MA, MSc or equivalent post graduate Arts Therapy qualification recognised by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is essential along with registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
