An opportunity has arisen for biomedical scientists to come on board to process and arrange specialist and routine laboratory diagnostic investigations in Haematology Blood Transfusion using a range of scientific measurements and technical procedures on patient samples. You will provide advice to clinicians and other healthcare staff as to the appropriateness of tests and time scales.
You will be responsible for own work and uses specialist training to operate complex equipment and solve problems. Acts as a mentor to less experienced Biomedical Scientists and participates in training supervision of Trainee Biomedical Scientists and Medical Laboratory Assistants.
Knowledge and essential skills required for the post
State HCPC registration with the Health Professions Council is mandatory.
Formal evidence of specialist knowledge in a range of discipline-specific procedures
Evidence of continuing professional development e.g. specialist portfolio of development attendance at specialist courses, training on new instrumentation and learning through reflective practice
Specialist Diploma in either Haematology Blood Transfusion/Blood Science or evidence to demonstrate working towards completion
Good communication skills and good organisational skills are required for this post.
The post holder will be required to participate in out-of-hours service and will be required to undertake some back shift at other hospital sites as and when you are required.
