37.5 hours per week, Pharmacy Department, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.  Band 7 (£40,872 - £47,846)

We are delighted to be able to offer a unique and exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic pharmacist to undertake a specialist rotation based primarily in Quality Assurance (Band 7). This post supports us in the provision of a Regional Quality Assurance service to NHS Highland.

The post will initially involve a 2-3 years rotation which has been aligned to a national pharmacy quality assurance strategy to build capacity and contingency for pharmacy quality assurance services.

The post-holder will be supported during the rotation to qualify and register as a “Medical Gas Pipeline System Quality Controller” and complete a PGDip / MSc in Pharmaceutical Technology and Quality Assurance (or equivalent). This will not only build skills in quality assurance but also provide the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills for those interested in quality improvement, aseptic, radiopharmacy and clinical trials services.

You will be instrumental in supporting the development, operation and monitoring of the Pharmacy Department Quality Management System and supporting the Principal Pharmacist, Quality and Governance in the provision of a Quality Assurance service to NHS Grampian and NHS Highland. This is an excellent opportunity to allow the development of negotiation and leadership skills. There will also be the opportunity to supervise and train junior staff within QA.

Following completion of the 2-3 year rotation you will join our existing Band 7 rotation which includes Medical, Surgical and Cancer teams, Aseptic Services, Radiopharmacy, Medicines Information, Children's Hospital and Dispensary Services.

This role includes a commitment to joining our on call rota. Training for on call duties will commence after an initial settling in period. Applications are invited for fulltime or job-share.
