An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to train as an Assistant Practitioner.

You will be working alongside qualified radiographers to deliver services to a wide variety of patients within radiology, your role will comprise a range of uncomplicated general radiographic examinations upon a pre-determined range of patient type. 

You should be familiar with all aspects of the radiology department and be competent to use RIS/PACS.

You will be an integral part of the radiology team where communication is vital in ensuring safe working practices are adhered to whilst maintaining  high quality imaging service for patients.

You should be able to effectively communicate with patients, carers and relatives, and provide reassurance to patients by way of clear explanation as to the nature of an examination.

There is a potential requirement to work on a 24/7 rota as the needs of the service dictate, there is three trainee site opportunities available. One at University Hospital Crosshouse, one at University Hospital Ayr and one at Ayrshire Central Hospital. However, you may be required to work at other sites within NHS Ayrshire & Arran.

In order to undertake the academic component of the training you will be required to travel to Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen for blocks of 3-5 days.

Robert Gordon University Entry Requirements
Applicants must satisfy the University's general admission requirements to courses as contained in Academic Regulation A2: Admission and Enrolment, including proficiency to a minimum standard in the English language. Specific entry requirements for this course are detailed below.

English proficiency must be a minimum of IELTS 7.0 in all elements. All applicants must normally be employed within a UK based radiography service as a clinical support worker, radiography department assistant, helper or equivalent.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate skills in the use of a personal computer and common software.

Access to Science/ Access to Nursing
