As a major division within the NHS National Services Scotland the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale through our leading position in new product development biomedical research and donor / clinical services. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards to patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive.
The candidate:
We are looking for a friendly, confident and outgoing nurse to provide quality-nursing care for the Clinical Apheresis Unit based at SNBTS Aberdeen. You will help to provide and develop the plasma exchange, blood stem cell harvesting and other therapeutic services. Venepuncture and cannulation skills are desirable and good communication skills are essential for this role. No experience in therapeutic apheresis is necessary as all relevant training will be given but experience in a closely related field such as Haematology or Renal nursing could be advantageous.
This post is based at SNBTS Aberdeen and bedside at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. Hours are Monday to Friday 08:00 -1615. Following training you would be expected to participate in the Clinical Apheresis Unit on call rota, currently (1 in 4 weekends only NO evenings or overnight) to assist in the provision of a 7-day service for emergency procedures.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme/Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who have lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
Candidates must have current NMC registration at the time of applying.

Clinical Apheresis Unit, SNBTS Foresterhill Road, Aberdeen AB25 2ZW
Monday to Friday- with on call commitment and autonomous working
