Scottish Emergency Dental Service (SEDS) is part of NHS 24's 111 service. It is a patient focused Out of Hours Dental service for the people of Scotland. The service provides Dental Assessment, consultation, dental information, and dental appointment information Monday - Thursday 18:00 - 08:00 and from 18:00 on a Friday to 08:00 on a Monday, including local and Public Holidays via telephone in various contact centres across Scotland.
The current pathway begins with patient's contacting NHS 24, using the freephone telephone number 111. As a Call Operator, you will be part of a busy team, collecting and documenting patient information, directing callers to clinical colleagues or to other NHS Services for further assessment.
You are required to listen sensitively, communicate clearly and accurately. Patients that you deal with on the telephone may be nervous, anxious, upset and in pain. You will be required to be focused and maintain a professional approach on every call.
