An excellent opportunity has arisen within the Public Protection Team (Child Protection) for highly motivated and enthusiastic Health Visitor, Midwife, or Registered Nurse to undertake the duties of Child Protection Advisor. To apply you must be educated to a degree level with (or be working towards) a specialist Post Graduate Qualification in Child Protection such as a Post Graduate Certificate or Diploma in Child Protection. We are seeking applicants who have evidence of professional development and who have an interest in Child Protection work.
Applicants must have an excellent working knowledge of policy and legislation that guides contemporary child protection practice with recent experience of the application of this to practice. Child Protection Advisors offer support and supervision to NHS staff and provide specialist advice to all disciplines. In addition to this our team deliver Child Protection training to all relevant NHS staff and at times multi agency teams. Experience of providing training, support, supervision and guidance to other health professionals is desirable but there will be opportunities to develop these skills through learning in practice.
The Child Protection Advisor role aims to ensure all staff within both adult and children’s services in NHS Lanarkshire recognise their role and responsibility in protecting children and respond appropriately. The post will require the successful candidate to work closely with other health professionals as well as those from other agencies in an area of practice that is challenging and emotionally sensitive and as such applicants should be emotionally attuned to the impact of the work on others.
The post holders will be operationally managed and receive professional and clinical leadership from the Lead Nurse for Child Protection with the support of the other Child Protection Advisors. A car driver/owner is essential.
There may be some scope to give consideration for part time hours depending on circumstances and the needs of the service.
Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is a condition of this post and the successful applicant(s) will require to join the scheme prior to appointment.
