An opportunity has arisen for a high calibre, enthusiastic and well-motivated Support Services Manager (SSM) Transport & Fleet to manage the Transport and Fleet Services across NHS Fife. An individual who can demonstrate excellent professional leadership and management skills and be highly successful in delivering a proactive, productive and strategic service.
You will be responsible in managing the delivery of quality of the Transport, Traffic Management and Contracted Services throughout NHS Fife (including patient services).
You will also be responsible for the Fleet Management across NHS Fife, and for the day to day operational management of Transportation Services and staff at Kirkcaldy’s Victoria Hospital which includes the delivery of Transport Services across Fife, Edinburgh and Dundee (and other areas when required).
You will lead and demonstrate compliance across the Transport Services for Fleet & Transportation management, Legal Requirements, Health and Safety, Road Legalisations, Fire, Risk Management, Mandatory Training, Budget Management, Administration Functions, Recruitment, Training, Infection Control, Waste and Waste Yard Management.
You must have an understanding and working experience of managing fleets in order that you contribute towards a year on year cost savings, including Green Travel and sustainability proposals.
You must be able to demonstrate a wide knowledge of experienced management skills and have a good understanding of the expectations regarding service delivery.
You are required to possess a minimum of a Degree Level, or equivalent experience at middle management in a relevant industry specific subject, including possessing qualifications in Managerial, Health & Safety (from an accredited organisation REHIS, NEBOSH, IOSH), Transport Manager (Certificate of Professional Competence), and hold a valid Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser certificate.
You must be experienced, knowledgeable and confident in all aspect of Staff Management, Health & Safety legislation, HR issues and Policies, Recruitment and Staff Training & Development. To demonstrate clear day to day leadership skills, excellent communication (both verbally and electronically) to enable to engage and interact with all levels of NHS staff and service users including encouraging, influencing and motivating staff. Ability to prioritise own workload, and able to work both independently on own initiative, and as part of a team.
The position is permanent, full-time (37.5 hours), and will be based at Kirkcaldy’s Victoria Hospital, although there may be a requirement to travel to other sites or Health Boards. Working hours will predominately be office hours, Monday to Friday.
A Full clean UK driving licence and Disclosure Scotland PVG clearance is required for this position.
