Ideally we require an HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join our friendly, dedicated and professional team providing a high quality Biochemistry service for NHS Highland. However candidates with an IBMS Registration Portfolio/Certificate of Competence assessment date pending or candidates working towards HCPC registration may be considered, and successful candidates will be given the opportunity to complete the Specialist Diploma in Biochemistry. The post is based at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness.
The department is well-equipped, and offers experience in all aspects of routine biochemistry and immunoassay. In addition the role will include CSF Xanthochromia analysis, Osmolality, and HbA1c analysis. Once trained the successful candidate will be expected to participate in the 24/7/365 out of hours rota.
The department provides a tertiary centre for NHS Highland due to the unique location of the hospital, handling specimens from a very wide geographic area including Skye and the Western Isles. The Blood Science department at Raigmore handles over 9.4 million tests per annum.
For potential applicants who may be looking for a change of lifestyle, the Highlands offers the ultimate countryside lifestyle since from Inverness there is easy access to both the Cairngorms, the West Coast of Scotland and the North Coast 500, which is proving very popular due to the outstanding scenery and beautiful sandy beaches along this route.
