Job Advert
Full-time and part-time (30hr) permanent posts available.
An exciting opportunity has arisen following the opening of Glasgow's Community Custody Unit in Maryhill HMP YOI Lilias. Please see attached for more information on the Lilias Centre.
The Lilias Centre Community Custody Unit (CCU) will be a 24-space facility located in Maryhill, Glasgow which will accommodate women currently in the care of Scottish Prison Service.
It features shared house-style accommodation with communal living spaces downstairs and individual bedrooms upstairs. Women will be supported to live independently and to develop a range of life skills by taking responsibility for their own personal care, laundry and housekeeping.
There is also a 'Community Hub' where women can meet with visitors, and access a range of activities and local services which will help to develop the skills and support networks necessary for successful reintegration into the community.
This new model of custody is underpinned by the SPS new 'Strategy for Women in Custody'. The strategy is founded on the principle that all aspects of the care of women in custody should be designed for women and take account of their likely experience of trauma and adversities. By re-thinking the custodial environment, the CCU aims to create gender specific and trauma informed settings, with facilities designed to help better prepare women for release.
