We are delighted to offer the opportunity for an experienced Registered Midwife to join our leadership team for a fixed term of 23 months


This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced midwife to shape the quality of midwifery care and influence the development of a high quality maternity service which puts women and their families at its’ heart. Within NHS Tayside we provide maternity care across our 3 Midwife Led Units, our community settings and in our Obstetric Led Unit in Ninewells Hospital. We have a number of specialist midwives to support service delivery. We are in the process of innovative change to ensure implementation of the recommendations of the 5 year forward plan for maternity and neonatal services in Scotland (Best Start)


This post holds professional, operational and managerial responsibility for the midwifery services across Tayside with specific responsibility for The Angus, Perth and Dundee community midwifery units and community midwifery teams, our team of Specialist Midwives and the department of Obstetric Ultrasound. Our service is currently on an exciting journey to implement continuity teams across all services and it will be a key aspect of the Senior Midwife role to support and develop this work further.



The successful candidate will have broad experience of midwifery encompassing both clinical and managerial expertise. They will have experience in managing teams, leading change, supporting quality improvement and working in collaboration with colleagues across complex systems to ensure a safe, compassionate and person centred approach to maternity care. The post holder must have excellent communication and decision making skills. They will work closely with the Lead Midwife, Senior Midwife for inpatient services and the Senior Nurse for gynaecology, providing cohesive leadership. This role includes a close working relationship with Senior Midwife/Nurses and multi-professional leads across the Women and Families care group in developing and delivering key priorities throughout the division.




Applicants for this post should be educated to Masters level or have equivalent post registration education and experience and be registered with the NMC as a Midwife.
