The Public Health directorate are looking for a Senior Public Health Intelligence Specialist to enhance their team, and to contribute to the development and support of a programme of work delivering transformation of services for those with palliative end of life care needs, through the End of Life Care Together Partnership. This new permanent post offers an excellent opportunity to work at senior level.

We are looking for an experienced enthusiastic team member with a key interest in palliative end of life care as part of their specific portfolio. The post holder should be a graduate with a relevant post graduate qualification, preferably in the specialist field of public health, medical / health statistics, research methods and with experience in a similar role in the NHS or large complex organisation relevant to the demands of the post.

The successful candidate will draw on experience from design and development of data sets based on information needs and outcome measures of service delivery. The role will involve undertaking complex analysis, linking local and national data sets, skilfully presenting and interpreting data to different audiences, using appropriate statistical, epidemiological and evaluative approaches.

The role will include consideration of clinical and heath care utilisation measures, patient related qualitative outcomes and experience measures (PROMS / PREMS) and attributing resource use against delivered outcomes. There will be a requirement for cross partnership collaborative working and to be a key member of high level strategic and delivery meetings.

The post holder will have the opportunity to contribute to a range of work within the Public Health Intelligence Team, who provide an expert resource on epidemiology, demography and population health evidence to meet the information needs of NHS Highland in support of the public health function.
