The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) Bio-repository is a key component of the NHSGGC Research & Development activity. It is hosted within the Pathology Department in the Laboratory Medicine Building at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. The unit is mainly responsible for acquisition, testing, storing and transfer of surplus human tissue for medical research purposes. The Bio-repository also performs a central laboratory function for a number of high impact CTIMP studies, with samples being sent from national & international study sites. An opportunity has arisen for a 1.0 WTE Biomedical Scientist (BMS) within the Glasgow Tissue Research Facility which leads on a number of research projects. The activities include challenging but field leading studies on cancer research with expertise in digital pathology and histology. Duties include but not limited to: laboratory work including digital pathology, image analysis, TMA construction, various histology techniques, general office and administration activities, database management and transfer of human tissue. You should be a good team player with good communication skills. You will have a degree in biomedical/biological science. Previous experience within a laboratory environment is essential with the candidate being an HCPC registered qualified BMS. This job will enable you to gain experience of working in a high-level research environment with opportunities for hands on participation in on-going and evolving laboratory and clinical research studies. This is a 1-year fixed-term post which can be available for secondment. and the hours will be worked Monday To Friday 9am to 5pm.
