1 x 2days/ 15-hour post (fixed term for one year)

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified speech and language therapists to join our service in Lothian. These posts will be based in City of Edinburgh. They can be combined to create a 4 day / 30-hour post for suitable applicants.

Sessions are available within:

  • The NW Edinburgh community team providing speech and language therapy for children within clinics and including mainstream school and nursery visits where required. You will be based in one of our community clinics.
  • The Special Schools Team in Edinburgh providing speech and language therapy for children with complex additional support needs. You will be based within one of our special schools.

Experience of working in community settings and/or special schools with children and young people is desirable but mentoring for a NQP can also be provided. Experience with videoconferencing software such as NearMe and other digital media would be desirable as our service has shifted some of our work to these platforms.

The speech and language therapy service is innovative and supportive.  It is committed to the principles of improvement science to provide a high-quality service focused on the child’s needs.  Support is provided for therapists in cluster based and clinically focused teams. All therapists have a personal development plan and are encouraged to extend their skills through a variety of CPD activities.

Applicants must be registered with HCPC and must have or can obtain Enhanced PVG Certificate form Disclosure Scotland.

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.

Please note: As this post is part-time the salary will be pro-rata.
