We are looking to recruit a highly motivated individual to work within a dynamic team as a Highly Specialist Clinical Pharmacist based at University Hospital Wishaw. The Post holder will be an integral part of the wider cancer care pharmacy team and will lead, develop, deliver and evaluate Pharmacy systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) services to the cancer patient population within University Hospital Wishaw (UHW) in accordance with the objectives set between the onsite Hospital Pharmacy Manager and the Lead Cancer Care Pharmacist for NHS Lanarkshire.

The post holder will lead the University Hospital Wishaw Cancer Care Pharmacy Team and provide leadership to staff within the UHW team, acting as a role model you will provide a consistently high-quality pharmaceutical service. You will take a leading role in developing the role of pharmacy cancer care technicians within the team. You will spend a significant amount of time working in UHW, but will also provide cross site support to SACT services and clinics based in University Hospitals Monklands and Hairmyres. There will be an opportunity to provide pharmacy prescribing services to a specific tumour group.

      KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB

  • Masters degree in Pharmacy
  • Significant experience of working in hospital pharmacy and in the cancer care / SACT  setting
  • Ability to monitor patient therapeutic regimens to ensure effectiveness and reduce toxicity.
  • Previous experience in delivering training and education to patient and staff groups.
  • Demonstrable use of clinical audit to improve practice. 
  • Demonstrate advanced level of clinical reasoning and judgement. 
  • Excellent numeracy, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines and manage resources
  • Participation in weekend and public holiday working
  • Post graduate degree / diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or Management and Pharmacist Independent Prescribing qualification
