Clinical Psychologist - Band 8A
AfC Band 8a plus a High Secure Environmental Allowance of £1,390.20 per annum and a High Secure Clinical Responsibility Allowance of £3,336.48 per annum.
Hours – 37.5 (Part Time hours will also be considered)
Contract Duration – Permanent
Post Details – This is an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist to work in a forensic high secure hospital psychology department. The post holder will develop expert-level skills in structured professional judgment risk assessment and apply this to a multidisciplinary formulation that will drive our patient’s recovery journey. The post holder will also develop highly skilled psychological therapy experience to tackle symptoms of mental disorder such as severe or enduring psychosis as well as criminogenic needs at an individual and group therapy level. There are opportunities to apply consultation and training models in risk assessment, formulation, and intervention. The State Hospital psychology service has a strong track record in providing space to clinical psychologists to develop research projects with the aim of publication, in conjunction with University Clinical Psychology Departments and trainee clinical psychologists. There are also excellent CPD opportunities focused on risk, formulation, and group or one to one intervention.
Experience – We are looking for a clinical psychologist with experience or interest in the forensic field looking to develop forensic clinical group therapies delivery and one to one therapy skills. We welcome applications from doctoral trainee clinical psychologists. The candidate should be interested in structured risk assessment and formulation, mental disorder and the interface with personality disorder, life course development of neurodevelopmental difficulties, and complex trauma. We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate with skills in evidence-based therapies to reduce clinical distress often linked to psychosis symptoms and tackle the criminogenic needs of patients in a high secure hospital setting. The candidate should have a learning orientation seeking CPD opportunities and fit into a culture that promotes the research process from developing research questions, to publication.
