Staff Nurse – Cardiac Cath Labs, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary

Hours: Full Time 37.5hrs per week, Location: Cardiac Cath Labs and Ward 401

Staff Nurse Band 5.

Cardiac Cath Lab nurses need to be dynamic, motivated and enthusiastic, willing to learn and have excellent team working skills. They should have highly developed communication skills and be able to work effectively in a high pressure environment. These skills are utilized both during normal working hours and during on call cases, which staff participate in after a period of training.

Nurses working in Cath Labs provide care for both inpatients and outpatients attending Ward 401 Cardiac Day Case Unit and Cath Labs.

These positions will appeal to nurses with a variety of interests due to the large range of procedures which patients may undergo. This can range from Coronary Angiograms, Coronary Angioplasties, Radiofrequency Ablations, Device insertions, TAVI etc. Patients may attend as emergency admissions via paramedics for Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention. At the other end of the acuity spectrum are elective and urgent patients, as well as day case admissions.

We are looking for dynamic, motivated and enthusiastic nurses, preferably with Cardiology experience, who are looking for a new challenge. The successful candidates must demonstrate willingness to learn and be able to work effectively within the multi-disciplinary team. Your priority will be to provide safe, effective, person-centered care. You must be able to work well in a high pressure environment, have excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt to ever changing scenarios such as rapid changes in the patient’s condition. Successful candidates will participate in seven day working and the on call Rota after a period of training.
