Specialist Occupational Therapist
A very exciting and rare opportunity has arisen at Highland Hospice for a Specialist Occupational Therapist within our hospice-wide multi-disciplinary Team. The successful candidate will be based in our Rehabilitation and Wellbeing Team, however undertaking a hospice-wide role within our organisation, supporting the needs of in-patients, out-patients and community based patients and their families. Hours of work will be 37.5 per week over 5 days – both hours and weekly pattern is open for negotiation with a degree of flexibility.
We are looking for a therapist who already has experience within palliative care or skills that are transferable from other areas of practice, who is enthusiastic, with a passion for working in a holistic, patient-centred and uniquely diverse role. Experience of working within the community, in partnership with other agencies would be a distinct advantage.
You will be responsible for assessing and providing specialist occupational therapy treatment and management to patients with life limiting conditions and supporting carers within the Hospice and the community – see attached job description. As the post holder will be involved in facilitating new ways of working for Occupational Therapy within palliative care, experience in quality improvement and / or change projects would be of benefit.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate knowledge of palliative care interventions, high levels of technical competence, strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a multi-disciplinary team.
Essential criteria:
• Diploma / BSc in Occupational Therapy
• Registered with Health & Care Professionals Council
• Evidence of continuing professional development (with palliative care – desirable)
• Licensed car driver with access to own car
